Canvas Quiz Converter v1.2

Turn a properly formatted mixed-question quiz—and optional question images—into a Canvas-compatible QTI ZIP. Supports Multiple Choice, True/False, Multiple Answers, Fill in the Blank, and Essay.

All conversion happens in this browser. Quiz content is not uploaded or stored.

Question types: Add Type: after each question title. Supported values are Multiple Choice, True/False, Multiple Answers, Fill in the Blank, and Essay. Older files without Type: remain supported and default to Multiple Choice.

Using an image? Add an Image: line and an Alt Text: line before the numbered question stem. The image filename in the text must match an uploaded image.

The workflow

1Generate

Have the AI write image-based questions and accurate alt text using the exact image filenames.

3Review

Verify every question, answer, image, alt-text description, feedback statement, and point value.

4Convert

Upload the quiz text and images, then create the QTI ZIP.

5Import

In Canvas, use Settings → Import Course Content → QTI .zip File.
